Marieke van der Velden (1974) is a Dutch photographer who graduated at the Fotoacademie in 2000. She has won a Zilveren Camera (3x) and a PANL award, and has had the honor to participate in World Press Photo's Annual Joop Swart Masterclass.
Her work often focuses on creating social and cultural awareness. NGO’s such as Unicef have sent her abroad some 50 times to photograph their projects and campaigns, mostly in Africa, South-America and the Middle East.
Her work has been published in various magazines and newspapers such as New York Times, Le Monde, Volkskrant Magazine, The Guardian, ELLE Magazine, NRC and Wahington Post.
