Piet Paris was invited to be guest curator for the 'Centraal Museum’ in Utrecht. He has selected over 150 objects from their collection and has found a unique and surprising form to present them: as scenes from a musical.

In Fashion, the musical Piet Paris leads the visitor along over 50 fashion looks, from backstage to the red carpet and ultimately the stage. Comme des Garçons, Maison Martin Margiela, Iris van Herpen, Viktor & Rolf as well as 17th and 18th century costumes. Main characters in the exhibition are Chantal and Simone, two sisters who both represent two apposing styles. Modern, minimalistic, geometric versus decorative, traditional and round, these two opposites are the red line through the whole exhibit.

Like his works, the exhibit is playful and elegant with great attention for detail. Accessible with a touch of humour, but also carrying a serious undertone: by combining entertainment and art he plays with the desire for mass culture and superficiality.

This exhibit was realized in collaboration with H&M and ELLE.
